For sellers
From hobby to small business: the first steps
The jump from making things for friends to selling to strangers is mostly a few decisions made once, written down, and then kept.
Price for the whole cost
Materials, your time at a wage you would accept, packaging, fees and a margin. A price that only covers materials turns every sale into a gift.
Start with a small, reliable catalogue
Five to ten products you can make or restock without strain is plenty. Add more when those are selling, not before.
Write down how you work
- Shipping and pickup: where, how long, what it costs.
- Returns and custom orders: what you accept, in plain words.
- Taxes: sales tax and income rules depend on where you live; check your state's guidance or ask an accountant before your first sale.
Where a shop here helps
The Launchpad walks through what a shop needs before it opens, one card per outcome, and each card opens the real control. A card is ticked because the thing exists in your shop, not because you clicked past it.
