Moving a shop is less risky when you do it in the right order: build the new one while the old one keeps selling, then move your customers, not just your products.
What moves easily
- Products and prices: import them from an Etsy, eBay or spreadsheet export (from Etsy, each listing's main photo too).
- Your policies and descriptions, which you already wrote.
- The people who follow you, if you tell them where you have gone.
What does not move
- Reviews and sales history on another platform stay there.
- Search rankings inside a marketplace belong to that marketplace.
An order that works
- Build the new shop and import the catalogue while the old one keeps selling.
- Walk through your own checkout, shipping and policies before you announce the move.
- Tell the people who follow you: your profile links, your website and your mailing list (people who asked to hear from you). Etsy and eBay restrict pointing their buyers elsewhere through orders and messages; check their rules first.
- Keep the old shop until the new one has taken over the sales, then close it or keep it for discovery.
