Your shop. Your customers. Your business.
An online shop of your own that never takes a cut of what you sell. Customers pay your own PayPal or Stripe account, the customer list is yours, and the monthly price stays the same when sales go up. Keep selling on Etsy, at fairs and on Instagram too: this is the one place that is entirely yours.

Who runs this
One person, in Connecticut, who answers his own email.
I'm Peter Angelini, the Connecticut-based founder and developer of Pete's Marketplace. I built this platform myself and continue to run it personally, with a simple goal: give independent sellers an affordable place to build their own shop, keep control of their business, and grow without unnecessary marketplace fees.
Pete's Marketplace is new. There are only a handful of shops on it so far, so it will not bring you crowds of buyers yet: most of the people who visit your shop will be people you send there. What it gives you today is a complete shop of your own, without the fees.
Write to me at support@petesmarketplace.com. I read and answer it myself.

Founding shops
The first 25 shops are set up with me, by hand.
- 90 days free on the Maker plan, with no card to start. If you have not added a card when the 90 days end, the shop pauses until you do. Nothing is ever charged to a card you did not give.
- I help you set it up. By email or on a call, and I move your listings over from Etsy, eBay or a spreadsheet with you.
- Then $19 a month, kept for 2 years. Your shop's price does not go up for 2 years after the free days end.
- No commission on your sales. PayPal or Stripe still charge their normal processing fee. Compare the fees.
- Cancel any time from the Billing page in your shop's admin. Your products, customers and orders download whenever you like.
- Keep everything you have. Your Etsy shop, your fairs and your Instagram stay as they are; this is one more place, and the one you own.
Why twenty-five? Because I set each one up myself, and that is as many as I can do properly.
Ask for a founding invitationTell me a little about what you make. I write back from support@petesmarketplace.com with your invitation link, or with an honest answer if the shop is not the right fit.
Only selling a batch of things?
You may not need a shop.
A $5 Clearing Out listing covers up to 25 items for 30 days. There is no account or subscription, and you can make corrections for the first 72 hours.
You get paid directly
Your customers pay your own PayPal or Stripe account. We do not sit between you and the money, and we do not add a percentage when something sells.
The marketplace stays fair
Every plan can be listed after review. Nobody can buy the top spot, and a bigger plan does not move a shop ahead of a smaller one.
No ad-tech following people around
We are not building advertising profiles from the people who visit. Your customer list is for running your shop, not for us to sell to somebody else.
You can take your work with you
Export your customers and shop data whenever you like. If the shop stops being right for you, we will not hold your work hostage on the way out.
What you get inside
A real admin, not a product form.
One admin runs the whole shop, on a computer or a phone: what you sell, the orders that come in, how the shop looks, and how you tell people about it. Every plan gets all of it.
- Products and orders. Products with options, sale prices and photo galleries, in your own categories, or imported from Etsy, eBay or a spreadsheet. Orders, fulfilment, returns and custom requests, with whatever needs you today at the top.
- Promotions. Sales, coupons, gift cards and pop-up announcements, each previewed on your own homepage before it goes live.
- Pictures, posts and screens. Creative Studio and Ad Studio turn your own photos into posts, pictures and short animations. Displays puts a lineup of them on a TV in your shop.
- The way it looks. Ten looks to start from, previewed on your own shop, then your colours, fonts, pages, policies and opening hours. Click any words on your homepage to change them.
- Your own accounts. Customers pay your PayPal or Stripe directly. USPS rates at checkout, and ShipStation for labels and tracking.
- How it is going. Sales and tax reports, and visits counted by the shop itself.
Screens from a demo shop, taken from the admin as it is today.
One monthly price, even in a good month
Your plan price does not rise when your sales do. PayPal or Stripe will still charge its usual payment-processing fee; we do not add a listing fee or take a percentage from an ordinary shop sale.
Plans
These are not three increasingly unlocked versions of the shop. Every plan has the same complete storefront and admin panel, PayPal and Stripe checkout, and the option to join the marketplace. Choose by the number of products and how quickly you need us.
Community
The entry plan, by invitation.
For fundraisers, school groups, first shops, and makers we have asked to join. It is the real shop and the real admin at the entry price, with room for a small range; you need an invitation link to choose it.
- Up to 25 products
- The same complete shop and admin panel
- PayPal and Stripe checkout
- Eligible for the marketplace
- A reply within 72 hours
By invitation. Open the link you were sent and this plan unlocks here.
Ask about CommunityMaker
For a working shop with a growing catalogue.
The comfortable middle: plenty of room for products and a quicker answer when you need us.
- Up to 500 products
- The same complete shop and admin panel
- PayPal and Stripe checkout
- Eligible for the marketplace
- A reply within 24 hours
Workshop
For a much larger catalogue and the fastest reply.
The shop is the same; the ceiling is much higher. This is for a catalogue that has outgrown Maker.
- Up to 2,000 products
- The same complete shop and admin panel
- PayPal and Stripe checkout
- Eligible for the marketplace
- A reply within 8 hours
No commission and no Pete's Marketplace transaction fee on any plan. Your payment provider still charges its normal processing fee. You keep your customer list and can export it whenever you like. Need more than 2,000 products? Tell us what you are running and we will work it out with you.
Who looks after what
We look after
- Hosting the shop and its admin
- A backup every night
- Updates to the shop software
- Answers when you ask, within your plan's reply time
- The Marketplace, if you choose to join it
You look after
- What you sell, its prices and its photographs
- Your PayPal or Stripe account, and its fees
- Packing, posting and talking to your customers
- Your policies, and any tax you owe where you are
Who this is for
A shop that fits around real life
Ceramics after work, prints at the kitchen table, soap in the spare room. The shop can look like yours without becoming another full-time job.
A first shop, built together
A parent holds the account while a young maker learns the work: choosing a price, packing an order, and writing to a customer.
Fundraisers, schools and troops
If the money is being raised for a cause, the shop should not eat into it. Community shops are $9 a month by invitation; tell us who it is for.
A place for local people to find you
Every plan may join the marketplace after review, at no extra cost. It is new and still small, so count it as a bonus rather than where your customers come from. A larger plan does not buy a better position, and there are no promoted listings to bid on.
Paid monthly plans
Start your shop
Choose your shop's address and plan, then continue to Stripe to pay. Your subscription starts when Stripe confirms the payment, and your shop is built for you straight after. It stays private until you decide to open it.
- Choose and subscribe. Stripe takes the payment securely. If your plan or invitation includes a free trial, Stripe shows it, and the date billing starts, before you confirm.
- Your shop is built for you. The build starts by itself as soon as Stripe confirms your subscription, and your private status page shows each step as it happens. If a step needs one of us, it pauses there and we are alerted straight away. There is nothing to install and no hosting to set up.
- Sign in and set it up from the Launchpad. Bookmark the status page you land on after paying. We try to email you its link as well, but keep the page in case that email does not come; if you lose it, ask us. when your shop is ready, it gives you a button to set your password and go into your shop. The admin opens on the Launchpad: one card for each thing to set up, from your name and logo to payments, shipping and your first product. Opening the shop to customers is your choice, when you are ready.
- Now: an email address you check and a name for the shop, and a card for Stripe (a founding invitation does not need one to start). The form takes a minute, then Stripe.
- Once the shop is built: a PayPal or Stripe account of your own to be paid into (or a note of how you take payment in person), and a first product with a photo. Shipping starts with flat rates and local pickup, so you do not need a shipping account to begin.

Ask about a Community shop, tell us what you make, or get help choosing. This form does not ask for a card or switch anything on. We read it, then a person writes back.
